Turquoise has been esteemed for thousands of years as a holy stone, and a bringer of good fortune. The word 'turquoise' (which dates to the 16th century), is derived from an old French word for "Turkish", because the mineral was first brought to Europe from Turkey, from mines in the Khorasan region of Iran. The Iranians call it "phirouzeh". Turquoise color is strongly associated with the domes and interiors of large mosques in Iran, and Central Asia.
NOTE: Stone beads are naturally occurring minerals; hence the ingrained pattern and color of the individual beads will vary with the picture. Also the picture is not of the product which will be sent as we cannot keep changing the pics on regular basis.
